Lumpology Space Time Project:

First Woman in Space (1963):

The Russian (Soviet) cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova was the first woman in space,

orbiting the Earth solo more than 48 times over three days flight time in 1963 in her Vostok 6 space capsule.

To this day, she is the only woman who has flown solo in space. Although she was never given another space mission,

she received many honours, including the United Nations Gold Medal of Peace, eventually achieved the rank of Major General in the Soviet Air Force,

and went on to serve in the Russian Legislature.
